Kitchen Manager/Pastry Chef
TruCrumb is the hottest new product in gluten-free frozen treats. You may have seen our products in freezer cases in all Central Market/HEB stores across Texas! We’re rapidly growing our operations and looking for a hands-on Kitchen Manager/Pastry Chef to partner with us in this exciting phase!
As a Kitchen Manager, you'll help create TruCrumb pastries, breads, and desserts in a professional, organized environment that transforms gluten-free treats from the exception to the exceptional.
This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about pastry and wants to continue developing their craft while establishing the standards and operations in a high-volume, high-quality kitchen.
This isn’t your regular kitchen role, it’s the opportunity to work alongside ownership to build the next big brand to come out of Austin, Texas. This one’s for the leaders.
What You'll Do:
- Lead all day-to-day back-of-house operations with hands-on involvement.
- Execute recipes consistently while maintaining exceptional quality, presentation, and portion standards.
- Maintain exceptional food quality, consistency, and safety practices.
- Work alongside the team during prep, development and packaging, setting the pace and standard.
- Train and coach baking team members.
- Collaborate with ownership and baking team to meet daily production needs.
- Manage inventory, purchasing, food costs, labor, scheduling, and waste.
- Improve kitchen organization, systems, and operational efficiency.
- Foster a positive culture built on professionalism, urgency, respect, and teamwork.
- Continue developing pastry techniques and innovating on products and flavors.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years in a kitchen leadership role (Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, or Chef de Cuisine).
- Strong organizational and operational management skills.
- Experience managing inventory, ordering, scheduling, labor, and food costs.
- Ability to lead high-volume services while remaining organized and composed.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coaching abilities.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a big plus.

You’ll Thrive Here With:
- Previous pastry, baking, or professional kitchen experience in a full-service bakery, restaurant, hotel, or similar culinary environment.
- A strong understanding of baking fundamentals, pastry techniques, and food safety practices.
- The ability to follow recipes accurately while maintaining consistency and efficiency.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Formal pastry or culinary education.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently stand and walk for extended periods.
- Regularly bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and lift throughout the shift.
- Safely lift and carry 50+ pounds.
- Work comfortably in a fast-paced commercial kitchen with varying temperatures.
- Availability to occasionally work additional weekend shifts as needed, planned in advance.
- Food Handler Certification (or the ability to obtain one before beginning work).
- Work onsite in the TruCrumb kitchen in South Austin.
